Introduction |
ADA is a zwitterionic buffer used in biochemistry and molecular biology. It is referred to as a second generation Good's buffer, which displays improved solubility and stability compared to traditional Good's buffers. It's one of the good buffers developed in the 1960's to provide buffers for wide applicability to biochemical studies. |
Function |
It is mainly used as a desulfurizer for water gas and semi-water gas in the product ion synthetic and also used as dye intermediate. ADA is a zwitterionic buffering agent used in biochemistry and molecular biology that was first selected and described by Good et al. It is an acetamido buffer that is useful for a pH range of 6.0 - 7.2. ADA forms a complex with most common metals and stability constants should be taken into account when using this buffer. |
Application |
Biological buffer: As a biological buffer, ADA has a pKa value of 6.6 (25 ° C) and provides a pH buffer range of 6.0-7.2, which is suitable for preventing protein oxidation and irreversible denaturation during gel electrophoresis. Solid phase pH gradient: ADA is suitable for preparing solid phase pH gradients, which helps maintain a stable pH environment during electrophoresis. Cell culture: ADA can be added to protein free medium to support the growth of specific types of cells such as chicken embryonic fibroblasts. Metal ion chelation: At physiological pH or lower pH values, ADA can chelate metal ions such as Mn2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, and Co2+in a 2:1 ratio. Diagnostic reagents: ADA is also used as a pharmaceutical intermediate and diagnostic reagent. |
