| 1) Used as a buffer system for cell culture, commonly used at a working concentration of 10-25MM; Compared with inorganic bicarbonate buffer systems, it exhibits better pH control ability in tissue or organ culture. Unlike bicarbonate, HEPES does not provide nutrients for cells. Only when cells need to be treated for a long time in a CO2 incubator will they be added to the culture medium to enhance buffering capacity. 2) Used as an amphoteric electrolyte solution; HEPES can dissolve amphoteric electrolytes and prepare pH gradients of<1 pH unit width for use in isoelectric focusing electrophoresis experiments; 3) Used as a suitable buffer system for electron microscopy observation of protein deposition technology, as HEPES does not have a negative impact on metal substrates; 4) It can be used as a buffer reagent for quantitative and selective determination of antigen antibody reactions. |
