Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3 is a cosmetic peptide ingredient synthesized from nine amino acids, commonly used to stimulate collagen synthesis for skin anti-aging purposes. It is believed to mimic the effects of skincare superstar retinol (vitamin A) without any side effects. The main benefits of Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3 include increasing cell turnover and promoting collagen synthesis without irritating or stinging the skin.

Function

Imitate the effect of vitamin A: Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3 is believed to mimic the effect of retinol (vitamin A), but avoid its negative side effects such as skin irritation or tingling sensation.
Increase cell renewal: It is claimed to increase cell renewal rate, promote collagen synthesis, and thus renew the skin.
Gene array screening test: German manufacturers conducted gene array screening tests and found that Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3 can upregulate 16 out of 92 studied genes, which are also upregulated by retinoic acid.
In vitro test: In vitro test, the cream containing 5% and 10% Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3 was compared with 0.1% retinoic acid solution. It was found that 10% cream had the same effect as 0.1% retinoic acid in inducing the significant increase (43%) of collagen-1.
Increasing epidermal cell layer: Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3 and retinoic acid can both increase the epidermal cell layer of skin explants, indicating that both can increase cell renewal, but retinoic acid performs better in terms of activity and side effects.
