Introduction |
Dextran is a polysaccharide composed of a linearized glucose unit skeleton linked by alpha (1 → 6) glycosidic bonds and branched chains starting from alpha (1 → 3) glycosidic bonds. This polysaccharide exists in the mucus secreted by certain microorganisms during their growth process, especially in the abundant and highly biologically active B-glucan found in Agaricus bisporus. The molecular weight of pectin ranges from 1 kD to 2000 kD, with branches accounting for approximately 5%. |
Function |
As a plasma volume extender: Glucan is used as a substitute for plasma in medicine. After partial hydrolysis, it mainly produces isomaltose, which can be used as a plasma volume extender and is called plasma substitute. Boosting immunity: β - glucan has the effect of activating the immune system, which can activate macrophages, neutrophils, etc., increase the content of white blood cells, cytokinins, and special antibodies, and comprehensively stimulate the body's immune system. Improving intestinal function: β - glucan has the effect of improving intestinal function and may contribute to intestinal health. Reduce blood viscosity: Glucan can lower red blood cell sedimentation rate and blood viscosity, helping to improve blood circulation. Used in the cosmetics industry: Glucan is also used in cosmetics as a moisturizer and skin conditioner. |
Application |
In the pharmaceutical field:Pectin is used as a substitute for plasma in medicine, for plasma substitutes, improving microcirculation, anti thrombotic effects, and expanding blood volume. Especially low molecular weight pectin is commonly used in the treatment of thromboangiitis obliterans, toxic shock, and other diseases due to its ability to improve blood microcirculation and depolymerize red blood cells. In the food industry: pectin is used to improve the quality and stability of products, and pectin synthesized by enzymatic method can be used to improve the taste and extend the shelf life of food. In the field of chemical engineering: the excellent water solubility, biocompatibility, and biodegradability of pectin make it suitable as a flocculant and can also be used in the production of special coatings and adhesives. Biomarker: FITC Dextran (fluorescein isothiocyanate dextran) is used as a fluorescent marker to evaluate the permeability of macromolecules to semi permeable membranes in vivo/in vitro, cardiovascular, microcirculation, cell monolayer voids/motility, perfusion, cell membrane permeability, endocytosis, colitis, and other studies. Cosmetics industry: Glucan can be used as a moisturizer and skin conditioner in cosmetics, providing moisturizing and improving skin texture effects. |
