Introduction

Tetramethylpyrazine or Ligustrazine is a bioactive ingredient extracted from the widely used traditional Chinese medicine Chuanxiong. It can inhibit platelet aggregation, enhance vascular dilation, increase cerebral blood flow, and have neuroprotective effects. Ligustrazine injection has been widely used in the treatment of ischemic chemobook wind, coronary heart disease, diabetes nephropathy, knee osteoarthritis in China. Ligustrazine has also been evaluated as a clinical treatment for pressure ulcers, as a salvage agent for non Hodgkin's lymphoma patients, and as a treatment for bronchial asthma and vertebrobasilar artery insufficiency.

Function

TMP has been used to work in three ways: as antithrombotic agent, antagonist of vasoconstriction, and anti-inflammatory compound.
