Introduction |
Niacinamide, also known as nicotinamide, vitamin B3, or vitamin PP, is a water-soluble vitamin belonging to the B group of vitamins. It is a component of coenzyme I (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, NAD) and coenzyme II (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate, NADP). In the human body, the nicotinamide portion of these two coenzyme structures has reversible hydrogenation and dehydrogenation properties. |
Function |
1. Niacinamide is used for treating diabetes and two skin conditions called bullous pemphigoid and granuloma annulare. 2. Niacinamide is applied to the skin for treating a skin condition called inflammatory acne vulgaris. 3. Niacin or niacinamide is used for preventing vitamin B3 deficiency and related conditions such as pellagra. Each of these forms of vitamin B3 is used for schizophrenia, hallucinations due to drugs, Alzheimer's disease and age-related loss of thinking skills, chronic brain syndrome, depression, motion sickness, alcohol dependence, and fluid collection (edema). |
Application |
Niacinamide and niacin are commonly used in most vocal systems, and niacin also generates nicotinamide in animal bodies. When the body lacks niacin and nicotinamide, it can cause pellagra. Therefore, they can prevent pellagra. They play a role in the metabolism of proteins and sugars, and can improve the nutrition of humans and animals. In addition to being used in medicine, it is also extensively used as a chemical additive in food and feed. The global production capacity has exceeded 30000 tons. In Japan, niacinamide is used in medicine for 40% and as a feed additive for 50%. Food additives account for 10%. Niacin and nicotinamide are non-toxic and are commonly found in animal liver, kidney, yeast, and rice sugar in natural media. The LD50 of nicotinamide for subcutaneous injection in rats is 1.7 g/kg. |
