Agastache rugosa (Fisch. & C. A. Mey.) Kuntze is a perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Agastache in the family Lamiaceae. The stems are finely pubescent and the lower part is hairless; the leaves are heart-shaped, ovate or quadrangular, and the corolla is light. Purple-blue, the fruit takes on the shape of a nut-ovate oblong shape when mature. Patchouli is widely distributed throughout China, mainly in Sichuan, Jiangsu and other places. The surrounding areas of Zhaoqing, Gaoyao and Xijiang in Guangdong are the authentic areas of Huoxiang. Patchouli likes high temperatures, avoids severe cold and drought, and prefers a humid environment with abundant rainfall. Patchouli is mostly propagated by seeds, which are sown in the same year and harvested in the same year.
