Introduction |
Wintergreen Oil is an essential oil extracted from the leaves of the evergreen plant, deer hoof grass. In late spring, this plant grows small white flowers and turns into red berries in summer, which can last until the next spring. The crushed leaves have a pleasant herbal flavor. Wintergreen Oil is almost entirely composed of methyl salicylate, which is the initial form of aspirin. |
Function |
Wintergreen Oil is mainly used as an external local redness agent, which is often used to reduce swelling and relieve pain. However, later, it is rarely used for oral drugs because it has related side effects such as affecting the activity of iron ions in the blood. Wintergreen Oil has a local stimulating effect, which can promote local blood circulation. External use or local application of chemical book can produce skin vascular dilation, redness and other stimulating reactions, and reflexively affect the skin, muscles, nerves and joints of corresponding parts, so as to reduce swelling, inflammation and analgesia, and also relieve itching. It can be used for sprain, contusion, low back pain, muscle pain, neuralgia and antipruritic. |

Methyl salicylate is helpful in treating heart disease. It also stimulates liver function and improves blood circulation. Methyl salicylate is also an important component of aspirin. Because holly oil is often used in the production of aspirin. Methyl salicylate is also considered a good aromatic agent and is therefore widely used in different massage oils Due to its wonderful mint flavor, it is often used as an ingredient in different deodorizers. Methyl salicylate is also commonly used in seasonings, chewing gum, and toffee. Some beverages also use it as a spice ingredient. Preservative properties are also a characteristic of methyl salicylate, therefore, it is also used in mouthwash and toothpaste. One thing to always remember is not to take wintergreen oil orally for therapeutic purposes. Oral administration of wintergreen oil is toxic. If used as a seasoning for candy, make sure not to exceed a content of 0.04%. |
