It was used in perfumery for many years, very specifically in the chypre accord. However, due to its allergic potential is now banned from use in perfumery, and its widely replaced by the synthetic note called Evewrnyl \ veramoss. |

Methyl-2,4-Dihydroxy-3,6-dimethylbenzoate, also known as Atratic Acid or MethylAtrarate, is a white to light yellow crystalline powder. It has the scent characteristics of oak moss and tree moss, making it an excellent fragrance fixative with a powdery and woody sweetness. This compound is used as a spice ingredient in the perfume industry to enhance and extend the fragrance of other spices, especially in oak moss and other moss essence. |
