| Malic acid includes D-malic acid, DL-malic acid and L-malic acid. L-malic acid, also known as 2-hydroxysuccinic acid, is a circulating intermediate of tricarboxylic acid, which is easily absorbed by the human body. Malic acid is an organic compound with the molecular formula C4H6O5. It contributes to the pleasantly sour taste of fruits, and is used as a food additive.
