Introduction |
Quercetin is quercetin, a widely distributed flavonol compound in the plant kingdom. Its chemical formula is C15H10O7 and it has various biological activities. In addition, quercetin has a concentration dependent inhibitory effect on ileal contraction in guinea pigs sensitized with ovalbumin, with an IC50 of 10 μ mol/L. Within the concentration range of 5 × 10-6 to 5 × 10-5mol/L, it can inhibit the proliferation of mouse cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and also suppress ConA induced DNA synthesis. |
Function |
Antioxidant effects: Quercetin is a potent antioxidant that can help the body fight against free radical damage associated with chronic diseases. Anti inflammatory effect: Studies have shown that quercetin can reduce inflammatory markers in human cells, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), which may help alleviate inflammation. Relieve allergy symptoms: Quercetin may have anti allergic properties, which can inhibit the release of histamine and alleviate allergy symptoms. Lowering blood pressure: Quercetin may help lower blood pressure levels and may have a positive impact on hypertensive patients. Cardiovascular protection: Quercetin protects the heart and blood vessels through antioxidant effects, reducing the risk of heart disease. |
Application |
In the field of medicine:quercetin has been studied for medical applications due to its biological properties such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, free radical scavenging, and immune regulatory activities. Functional foods and beverages: As a dietary antioxidant, quercetin is added to foods and beverages to help resist free radical damage associated with chronic diseases. Cosmetics industry: Due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, quercetin is used in cosmetics to protect the skin from environmental damage and reduce skin aging. Health supplements: Quercetin is sold as a dietary supplement in powder and capsule form, and people take it to enhance immunity, fight inflammation and allergies. In the field of agriculture: quercetin, due to its antibacterial properties, may be used as a natural antimicrobial agent in agriculture to help control crop pathogens. |
